Top 5 Food and Drink Apps on Android in South Africa Q3 2022

The third quarter of 2022 saw notable activity in the food and drink app category on the Android platform in South Africa. Here’s a closer look at the performance of the top 5 apps: Mr D - Groceries & Takeaway, KFC South Africa, Uber Eats: Food Delivery, McDonald's, and Debonairs Pizza.

Mr D - Groceries & Takeaway experienced fluctuations in weekly downloads, starting at around 28K at the beginning of the quarter, dipping to approximately 23K mid-quarter, and closing at nearly 28K by the end of September. Weekly active users showed a slight decline from around 331K to 324K throughout the quarter.

KFC South Africa maintained a steady download rate with weekly downloads ranging from 22K to 28K. The number of active users saw a gradual increase, starting at approximately 170K and peaking at 186K by the end of the quarter.

Uber Eats: Food Delivery showed a consistent performance with weekly downloads fluctuating between 18K and 26K. Active users remained relatively stable, starting at around 243K and closing the quarter at a similar number.

McDonald's saw an increase in weekly downloads, beginning at around 16K and peaking at approximately 21K. Active users also increased slightly from 135K to 151K over the quarter.

Debonairs Pizza experienced varying download numbers, starting at around 19K, dipping to 14K, and ending at approximately 21K. Active users showed a positive trend, beginning at 61K and rising to 64K by the end of September.
